Dean Newton - Chairman & General Partner
Dean began his investing career as head of Business Affairs for Sony Music’s venture arm 550 Digital. He left Sony to cofound what became “Moviso,” the nation’s most successful ringtone and mobile media company acquired by Vivendi and Infospace, Inc. in 2003. Most recently, as a C-suite member, Dean helped drive private-equity backed Transact from carve-out to a $1.6 billion exit to Roper Technologies. A member of the Patawomeck Tribe of Virginia, Dean is one of the few Native executives to successfully navigate a private equity-backed company to a ten-figure exit.
Dean is a graduate of Harvard University, where he received both B.A. and J.D. degrees, and Chairman of the Native American Capital and Investment Alliance. He serves on the Boards of several companies and other organizations and remains an avid dog enthusiast.
